Maka Emali, with support from Childfund New Zealand, is a development initiative between the Maasai and Kamba communities of Emali, Kenya. This is a region increasingly affected by drought and an alternative to farming was desperately needed by the communities as a means of survival. The forming of the company has given the women from Emali a chance to meet regularly as a community and draw on traditional methods from their rich cultural heritage to create fairly traded products that will be sold in Kenya and to us!
